The City is delighted to have been provided with a generous donation of $250,000 from Rio Tinto towards audio-visual equipment and other technology at Saltwater. This funding will support learning and development opportunities for schools and community groups, as well as contributing to the venue’s commercial viability through the hire of spaces.
The Mayor, CEO and key staff were pleased to provide senior representatives from Rio Tinto with a tour of the Saltwater construction site earlier this month to discuss how these systems will support future programming and educational opportunities once this new venue is open.
Representatives also heard how Saltwater will incorporate cultural story-telling that celebrates local Aboriginal people and indigenous culture in the South West, and how Saltwater will contribute to the attractiveness and liveability of the region, including being a significant drawcard for tourists.
