Foreshore Reserve Subject of Planning Application - June 27, 2012
The City received an application for planning consent for a single residential dwelling onLot480 (Plan 65894)Geographe Bay Road, Quindalup which has been used as foreshore reserve for many years.
According to Landgate records, this land is privately owned despite its designation under the town planning scheme for recreation. Due to the location and use of the land, which is of significant importance to the City ofBusselton, Council determined that the development application be subject to a 21 day advertising period. All persons with an interest in the land or who may consider themselves affected by the proposed development are invited to comment or provide Council with a written submission.
CEOMike Archersaid that this application for planning consent will be considered by Council probably in early August 2012. “The land is largely undeveloped and forms part of the Dunsborough Foreshore which has been used and enjoyed by the public at large for recreational purposes for many years,” he said.
“There are a wide range of complex legal and planning issues which potentially apply to this land and the development proposal which is the subject of this application. All these issues will be considered by Council in the determination of the application. I would encourage interested people to view the application on the City’s website and, if they feel inclined, to make a submission to Council. The submission period closes on Wednesday July 18.”
