Library Services Plan
What can the community expect from their Library service in the future?
After extensive consultation, a Library Services Plan has been developed that will guide the delivery of library services and facilities within the Shire. The Library Services Plan has drawn on a wealth of research, including the outcomes of the feasibility study into the Vasse Learning and Information Centre, as well a variety of local community input into a single document.
The plan suggests a way forward to ensure the sustainability and development of library services in consideration of:
- Future population growth, population distribution with consideration of demographic and special needs issues;
- Service expectations of permanent residents, visitors and local businesses;
- Innovative ways of service provision including possible integration with education or recreation facilities and suggested future locations for library services.
The major recommendations from the report are grouped around the following aspirations:
- Appropriate attractive and accessible library spaces (both virtual and physical) in strategic locations stocked with resources that meet community needs
- Services delivered in a cost effective manner with a focus on customer needs
- Services that support learning and informed communities
- Integrated service delivery and sustainable partnerships for mutual benefit
- Libraries that are well used and visible
Hard copies of the Library Services Plan are available from the Busselton and Dunsborough Library.
