Jetty submissions being reviewed (21 December 2006)
MEDIA RELEASE
The 816 submissions received by the Busselton Jetty Working Group (Working Group) will be independently reviewed by consultants Taylor Burrell Barnett over the coming weeks and collated into a report for consideration by the Working Group.
Working Group Co-Chairs, Adele Farina MLC and Shire President Cr. Kevin Douglas welcomed the public response to the call for submissions noting that a number of people had made very detailed submissions, some including concept plans of their own.
Ms. Farina said "The consultants anticipate having a report on the submissions to the Working Group by about late February 2007".
"The Working Group will consider the report and the individual submissions and make recommendations to the City of Busselton Council and the State Government on the project" Ms Farina said.
Cr. Kevin Douglas said that as many people had made very detailed submissions, the Working Group would not only consider the consultant’s report but also thoroughly review and consider the individual submissions.
"I would expect the Working Group will be able to start discussing the findings of the submissions with Council in April 2007" Cr. Douglas said.
“The report and recommendations will be considered by Council before being considered by the State Government” he said.
Independent consultants Taylor Burrell Barnett have extensive experience in summarising and analysing public submissions. Shire planning officers have provided advice on the nature of the information required from the analysis for Council’s consideration of the submissions.
"Councillors will have access to the report and all submissions made when they are considering the recommendations of the Working Group" Cr Douglas said.
