Strong Response to Cultural Survey - 20 February 2009
Members of the City of Busselton community are invited to contribute their views towards the Local Cultural Planning Strategy in a survey which will run until mid March. To date there has been a strong response, based on the large number of surveys received.
As an added incentive, those who complete the survey will go into a series of draws to win some great prizes. The first round of prizes was drawn at the Cultural Partners meeting on Tuesday, 10 February, with winners receiving either cinema tickets, family passes to Ngilgi Cave and Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, or Pizza and Wine at Swings ‘N Roundabouts.
The first group of winners were:
- H Turner
- John Hutchinson
- Celia Clarke
- Graham Sylvester
- Tina Masini
- Anne Gardiner
- Diane Gee
Surveys can be submitted online at www.busselton.wa.gov.au/tps/cultural or via distribution points throughout the Shire which include the Busselton and Dunsborough Libraries, ArtGeo, the City of Busselton's Customer Service Centre in Southern Drive and Dunsborough Centrepoint.
For the weeks February 23 - 28 and March 9 - 14, forms will also be available at Busselton Central as well as the Dunsborough Arts Festival on March 1.
Planning for cultural activities in the City of Busselton involves asking questions about lifestyle and community values, such as ‘How do you keep your community and cultural identity in the face of rapid population growth?' or ‘How do you manage the change and protect quality of life, whilst welcoming and including new residents and visitors?'
The development of a Local Cultural Planning Strategy, as part of the review of the Town Planning Scheme, aims to address such issues by incorporating arts and culture into land use planning, in addition to supporting existing and future cultural sites.
END.
