City of Busselton URGES COMMUNITY TO BE SAFE THIS FIRE SEASON
The 2008/2009 fire season is approaching with the forecast of an extreme fire season due to limited winter rains causing extra fuel loading throughout the Shire.
All ratepayers will receive the City of Busselton's annual Bush Fire Notice with their Rates Notice shortly, outlining the importance of protecting and preparing your property this bush fire season.
The City of Busselton's Annual Bush Fire Notice informs you of the actions that must be taken to manage bush fire risks on your property. These actions must be completed by 1st December 2008.
Reducing the risks of a bushfire is imperative this season and land owners and occupiers within the City of Busselton are encouraged to maintain fuel reduction and manage remnant vegetation on their land in accordance with the Annual Bush Fire Notice, with particular attention paid to Building Protection Zones, Hazard Separation Zones, water supplies and Fire Brigade access.
City of Busselton officers will be vigilant in enforcing the requirements of the notice to reduce the threat and impact of bush fires to residents and volunteer fire fighters. Infringement notices will be issued to landowners who do not comply with the Annual Bush Fire Notice.
Residents are also advised that there are important restrictions around burning and fire lighting within the City of Busselton from November to May each year.
All exemption variations to the 08/09 Fire Break Notice must be lodged with an alternative fire protection management plan by 8 November 2008 (All alternative fire management planning forms can be requested from Ranger and Fire Services on 97810480)
