NEW DIRECTION SOUGHT FOR HISTORIC BUSSELTON FIRE STATION
The City of Busselton is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced business owners in leasing one of Busselton's most endearing historical buildings.
The building known as the 'Old Fire Station' is a landmark of the CBD and one of the City of Busselton's historical buildings. It is prominently located in the main street adjoining the towns central parkland.
Constructed in approximately 1936 it was Busselton's only Fire Station until its replacement in 1990. The building is listed on the City of Busselton's Municipal Inventory of Heritage Places and appears on the Heritage Council of WA Inventory of Old Fire Stations.
It is envisaged that the commercial redevelopment, will see the Fire Station transformed into a café, restaurant or exciting retail outlet contributing to the vibrancy of Queen Street, Mitchell Park and the CBD. The new business will enjoy crucial exposure in a prime location, to an extent otherwise unavailable in the area. With this building and this location, a new business has the potential to become an icon of the Busselton Central Business District.
The building has a net lettable area of approximately 112sqm and is constructed of rendered brick with a clay tile roof. There may be opportunities to extend the building to cater for the specific requirement of a suitable proposal.
The Shire would like to speak with any experienced business operators who would be interested in discussing a proposal for the site. A long lease term could be offered and a competitive rental of around $30,000pa (for the main building).
Any enquiries can be directed to the Shire Property Manager, Anne Grove on 9781 0388 or anne.grove@busselton.wa.gov.au
