City of Busselton CALLING FOR NOMINATIONS PREMIER’S AUSTRALIA DAY ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP AWARDS 2009
Does anyone in your town make you proud?
Local Governments across Western Australia invite individual and groups to nominate individuals or groups from the community who epitomise our wonderful Australian spirit for the prestigious 2009 Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards.
These state-wide awards are exclusive to Western Australia and are designed to acknowledge and reward local residents and groups for their contribution to community life and their active participation in local projects. The awards will focus on community involvement rather than on personal achievement.
Shire President, Cr Wes Hartley, said "Community members are encouraged to submit nominations to City of Busselton Council of individuals or community groups which demonstrate active citizenship and qualities of leadership, inspiration and community participation, resulting in the enhancement of our community's life".
Executive Director of the Australia Day Council of Western Australia, Graham Partridge, said that the awards recognise the positive contributions people make participating in their local community.
"Every community has outstanding local achievers and role models who deserve to be nominated. The awards celebrate the enduring Aussie spirit of communities in Western Australia", he said.
Nominations can be made in the following categories:
-
the Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Award;
- the Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Award for a person under 25 years;
- the Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Award for a community group or event.
The Premier's Australia Day Active Citizenship Awards will be formally presented at the official City of Busselton Australia day event on 26th January 2009.
