Community Workshop Report

A Community Workshop was held on the 20 February 2008 to assist with the preparation of the Shire's Local Environmental Planning Strategy.

The Shire is developing a Local Environmental Planning Strategy (LEPS) as part of its Scheme Review process. Consultants ‘Landinsights' have been appointed to prepare the LEPS for the Shire. The LEPS will provide a strategic planning framework for the environment and guidelines for future land use, development and environmental protection within the Shire. It will provide significant input and context for the future development of the Shire's Local Planning Strategy and new Local Planning Scheme.

The workshop process was designed to be a collaborative exercise aimed at eliciting the views of all participants. Feedback obtained from the community workshop is contained in a Workshop Report. This is available for viewing or downloading from the Shire website www.busselton.wa.gov.au.

The views and issues raised at the workshop will be referred to in preparation of the LEPS. Following this workshop environmental baseline data will be finalised. An Issues, Opportunities and Constraints Report will be developed and made available to the community. This Report will be presented at an Information Evening (details to be advised when available). Further opportunity for comment will be provided once the draft strategy has been released for public comment.
