At this stage in the process the emphasis is on preparation of each of the planning
strategies that will form the basis of the Local Planning Strategy e.g. Local Tourism
Planning Strategy or Local Environmental Planning Strategy. The consultation
program for each strategy is to appoint and consult with:
- Technical working groups
- Community reference or focus groups
- Broad community
- Targeted interest groups
There will be opportunities for participation in "community focus group" meetings and workshops. These will be undertaken to identify community values and attitudes. The identified community focus groups have input into the process and can act as a conduit from the broader community to the planning team, to highlight issues and places which the strategies need to address. For details of the progress of each
strategy please refer to the specific strategy on this website
There will be an opportunity for public comment and the making of formal submissions throughout the preparation of the strategies
While consultation with existing community focus groups will be ongoing throughout the entire Scheme Review process, the Shire's Scheme Review Communications Strategy recommends that a representative group be established to have input into the final Local Planning Strategy. The role of the group ("Community Reference Group") will be to support the Local Planning Strategy process from approximately August 2008 to mid 2009. The aim is to establish a group consisting of balanced and representative community membership (approx. 15 members) that will have input to the preparation and finalisation of the consolidated LPS. One person will be selected from each of the interest groups below based on the nomination presented.
Youth/School age
Indigenous
Sporting Club
Environment
Surfer/Recreational Fishermen
Artist/Musician
Commercial Business Owner
Farm Business
Tourism Operator
Development Industry/Construction
Local Industry Representative
Non allied representatives: Busselton. Dunsborough, Yallingup, Cape Naturaliste
In establishing the Group, the Shire will:
- Request nominations from community focus groups;
- Request nominations from the broader community through its website, display or brochures
- Possibly send our random letter inviting householders to request a nomination
- Shire staff will not be eligible to apply
Expressions of Interest for the Group will be called in approximately June/July 2008.
Details of the communications program are outlined in the Scheme Review Communications Strategy on this website
