"Council’s overarching aim is to ensure the City of Busselton remains on a path of sustained, responsible growth," Mayor Grant Henley (pictured left)
The last five years has seen the commencement and achievement of many important milestones here in the City of Busselton. It is interesting to note that only a few years ago Council identified the Busselton Foreshore Redevelopment as its local priority project and the Busselton Margaret River Airport Redevelopment as its regional priority project. In what is a relatively short time frame a great many things have been achieved to enable the City to deliver on these and many other priority projects.
The Major Projects Team within the Engineering and Works Services Directorate has a key role in delivering most of these priority projects. The team has successfully delivered the Busselton Community Resource Centre and Library upgrade; redevelopment of the Dunsborough Foreshore and Seymour Park, expansion and refurbishment of the Geographe Leisure Centre and, most recently, delivery of the new City of Busselton Civic and Administration Centre.
Additionally the first two stages of the Busselton Foreshore Redevelopment encompassing the Barnard Park Playing Fields and Sport Pavilion and the Youth Precinct (complete with new Youth and Community Activities Building) have been delivered to the community. The third and final stage of the Busselton Foreshore redevelopment, the central core area, is now under construction with view to completion mid 2018.
Continuation of the Busselton Foreshore development (including overseeing the relocation of the Busselton Tennis Club), the Busselton-Margaret River Airport Expansion Project, and upgrades to Lou Weston Oval (subject to funding) are some of the current and upcoming projects of particular strategic importance.
