"Council’s overarching aim is to ensure the City of Busselton remains on a path of sustained, responsible growth," Mayor Grant Henley (pictured left)
The last five years has seen the commencement and achievement of many important milestones. It is interesting to note that only two and a half years ago, the Council identified the Busselton Foreshore Redevelopment as its local priority project and the Busselton Regional Airport Redevelopment as its regional priority project. In that time a great many things have been achieved, many unseen, to enable the City to deliver on these priorities.
This can only mean positive signs ahead for the next raft of priority projects to be adopted by the Council, one of which has already been identified – a potential Performing Arts Centre in the CBD. While this is still in the feasibility stages, the City has commenced planning towards the facility, including some preliminary concept plans and designs some of which are illustrated below.
The Major Projects Team has a key role in most of the priority projects, having delivered the Busselton Community Resource Centre and Library upgrade; expansion and refurbishment of the Geographe Leisure Centre; extensions to the Busselton Regional Airport; and the redevelopment of Dunsborough Foreshore and Seymour Park. The team also successfully delivered the first two stages of the Busselton Foreshore Redevelopment with the third and final stage now in planning.
The continuation of the Busselton Foreshore development, the Busselton-Margaret River Airport Expansion Project and construction of a new Civic and Administration Centre are three current projects of particular strategic importance. These projects are tracking well and we’ve received great community feedback on what’s been achieved - particularly in relation to the Busselton Foreshore Upgrade where the most significant progress has been achieved to date.
