Noise is unwanted or unpleasant sound which can cause major disturbances and affect health through loss of sleep, emotional stress and damage to the ear. In most cases, noise issues are resolved by talking to the people involved. Talking with your neighbours and coming up with a solution is the best way to deal with the problem. Where this has not resolved the issue, Environmental Health Officers at the City of Busselton or the WA Police may be contacted for help.

The Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997 stipulate the allowed decibel levels depending on the day and time. The regulations have been designed to ensure acceptable levels are met while being flexible to allow normal activities to occur such as lawn mowing, public events and music practice. Factors such as the amount of traffic, nearby commercial or industrial premises and the time of day all impact on acceptable levels of noise.
