Community participation and awareness
Effective community participation and awareness is an important factor in gaining the support of
the community to become involved in environmental management.
There are thirteen key community groups operating in the District and requiring
support and financial assistance to undertake environmental activities.
The City also provides a forum to the community for discussion of environmental issues in the City via the Environment Reference Group. Nominations are called on an annual basis for re-appointment of half of the membership, through advertising in the Council for Community Page. The Environment Reference Group's role is also to monitor the progress, and assist implementation, of the City of Busselton Environment Strategy .
