Regional partners have committed over $200K to the City of Busselton’s Future Airport Marketing Fund for the Busselton-Margaret River Airport (BMRA).  The purpose of the fund is for the attraction and retention of airlines to service the east coast to the south west region of Western Australia.

In a letter to the City of Busselton, Dardanup Shire CEO Mark Chester said, “Council and the community [of Dardanup] look forward to the development of the airport and the new advantages that this will bring to the region in terms of economic development and new opportunities for business growth.”

In considering its position at a recent Council meeting the Nannup Shire Council noted “that [Nannup] Council should be exploring all avenues in which to promote industry development in the Shire of Nannup and by contributing to the BMRA Future Airport Marketing Fund it would clearly show Council’s commitment in developing the region.”

Mayor Henley said: “The Airport Marketing Fund will assist to further increase the profile of the South West region expanding opportunities for tourism and tourism related industries as well as future airfreight services.  I sincerely thank our local government neighbours for their financial support.

Our continued appreciation is extended to all of our BMRA Future Airport Marketing Fund partners that now include: the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association; Australia’s South West; City of Bunbury and Shires of Harvey, Dardanup, Manjimup, Capel, Collie and Nannup.”
