Petals & Fur on Porcelain Art!
For devotees of this centuries-old art form - hand painted porcelain by skilful artists, kiln fired and presented by teachers from APAT WA

The Australasian Porcelain Art Teachers Association of WA is one of Australia’s oldest porcelain painting associations and will present an exhibition of members’ work in the South-West City of Busselton. To be held in the historic Old Court House at the ArtGeo Complex, Queen Street (Jetty end), Busselton from Saturday 26th November to Sunday 4th December, 2022 from 9.30am to 4.00pm daily. Admission is free and exhibits will be available for sale.

A wide variety of subject matter will be on display including wildflowers, animals, birds, fish, insects and more. Displayed work is individually hand-painted by artists using various paints, lustres, gold and textures to enhance the plain white porcelain, the china painter’s ‘canvas’. A design is applied over several firings to around 800°c. The heat melts the porcelain glaze sufficiently to absorb the painted design which when cooled is set within the glaze permanently, ensuring they will become the heirlooms of tomorrow. Many hours of work, individual style and techniques ensure each piece on display is original and unique. Artists will be on hand daily to answer any questions.

APAT WA is a not-for-profit association which has been working to promote porcelain art in WA since the 1960s and the exhibition is an opportunity to see some of the finest porcelain painting in the country, both contemporary and traditional.
