City of Busselton residents and visitors have an opportunity to get up close and personal with Air Force Hawk 127 Lead-In-Fighter jet and Pilatus PC-21 aircraft when the Busselton Margaret River Airport throws open the tarmac to the public and commemorates 100 years of the Royal Australian Air Force.
The City of Busselton has partnered with the Air Force to put together a special event at the Airport to highlight the history and achievements of this great Australian institution.
The City’s Mayor Grant Henley is proud to announce this special event.
“Our Air Force has a long history, not only with serving and protecting Australia, but it also has a special connection to the Greater Busselton region,” he said.
“Air Force has an extensive association with the Busselton region. During WWII, Air Force had a presence in Busselton for training and operation purposes. In more recent times, Air Force has flown to the airport as part of its pilot training and provided assistance in combatting regional bushfires.”
The Busselton Margaret River Airport open session will feature two aerial displays with Air Force PC-21 aircraft and static ground displays of Air Force PC-21 and Hawk 127 Lead-In-Fighter aircraft which will fly down from RAAF Base Pearce.
In addition there will be aircraft displays including the Busselton Aero Club, DFES, SLSWA, Scenic Helicopters, Virgin Australia and Alliance Airlines where visitors will be able to view and board some of the aircraft.
There will be an array of food vans, a bouncy castle for the kids and entertainment all day long.
Free overflow parking will be available at the Busselton Hockey Club – Bovell Oval (28 Vasse Hwy, Busselton), where buses will leave every 20 minutes between the Club and the Airport. Parking will be available from 8.30am with first bus leaving at 9.00am.
