In January this year, there were devastating fires that worked their way through the Meelup Regional Park and threatened homes and businesses close to Dunsborough and Eagle Bay. A large number of emergency services crews from across the state came to help the local brigades bring the fire under control.
To say thank you, the local community is invited to line the main street of Dunsborough to cheer on these hard working volunteers and crews, for their contribution in very trying circumstances.
The parade will be escorted by Dunsborough Police as the town will be busy and we ask people to be mindful of vehicle movements.

Form up: DFES and Dunsborough Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade Building
Parade Route from 10am:
- Marri Drive towards Naturaliste Terrace
- Right into Naturaliste Terrace
- Through town and roundabouts
- Right into Caves Road
- Right into Cape Naturaliste Road intersection whilst travelling on Cape Naturaliste Road, vehicles will slow down around Cape Rise and Maybrook Forest
- Right into Eagle Bay Road
- Eagle Bay
Crews will then be treated to a special morning tea by local community groups.
Residents should note that there will be some traffic implications during this time and should seek alternative routes, or please be patient.
Mayor Henley said, “A fire in the Naturaliste area is something I’m sure we have all worried about from time to time. The efforts of all of those who responded to save homes and lives showed the strength of our community and of our emergency services.”
