Western Beach Seawall Works

Published on Monday, 8 March 2021 at 9:09:28 AM

Work to refurbish the West Busselton seawall will commence week beginning March 21. Originally built in the 1970s the seawall is an important strategic coastal defence protecting Geographe Bay Road and the popular dual use pathway.  Leeuwin and Civil will be undertaking the refurbishment using existing rocks where possible and bringing in additional granite rocks which are more attractive and much harder wearing. Works are scheduled for completion by mid-year (subject to weather).

Some temporary closure of the dual use pathway will be required and beach access either side of the works will be restricted during works.

The map below shows the area of works. The photos show the expected change in appearance of the seawall once work has been completed. If you have any concerns contact Daniell Abrahamse – per email at, daniell.abrahamse@busselton.wa.gov.au or per phone during office hours at 9781 0422.
