Nominating for Council
Local government elections are held every two years on the third Saturday in October. The next local government election will be held Saturday, 18 October 2025.
The City of Busselton will have 4 Elected Member vacancies at the 2025 Local Government Election.
Call for Nominations - Statutory Notice 2025 Election
Who can nominate
To be eligible to nominate for a local government election, a candidate must be
- An Australian Citizen
- An elector of the district (but not a nominee of a body corporate)
- Be 18 years of age or older
Additional requirements can be found on the Western Australian Electoral Commission website.
How to nominate
Nominations open on Thursday, 28 August 2025 and close at 4.00pm on Thursday, 4 September 2025.
Prior to nominating, all candidates must complete an online induction via the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulations and Safety.
Candidates are encouraged to use the Nomination Builder available on the Western Australian Electoral Commission website.
All nominations are to be lodged with the Returning Officer, along with a deposit of $100. Full details about eligibility and nomination procedures for prospective candidates can be obtained by contacting the Returning Officer, Ms Vicki Small on 0437 861 400, or the Western Australian Electoral Commission on 13 63 06.
