The City provides a supportive learning environment and on-the-job training opportunities for further professional development.

Study Assistance

Assistance for eligible employees is offered towards a formal qualification to enhance their professional skills and education.

Employee Development Conference

A bi-annual conference for employees dedicated to bringing all employees together for a unique professional development opportunity.

Internal Opportunities

The City offers a range of internal opportunities to diversify employees’ skillset by offering fixed term secondment placements to support succession planning and professional development.

New Starter Passport Program

Provides all commencing employees an Induction process which assists individuals to settle into their role quickly, safely, and successfully.

 

Employee Recognition and Support

Flexible Working Arrangements

Subject to the continuity of service delivery and operational requirements, a flexible working arrangement may be considered between the City and the employee to better suit one’s personal commitments.

Social Club

A socialising club for employees to get to know each other and attend social events scheduled throughout the year. Past events have included horse riding, outdoor cinemas and brewery tours.

Reward and Recognition

Peer nominated awards for employees as appreciation for a “job well done”.

Annual Employee Award Event 

An award for those employees who have performed outstandingly throughout the year.

 

Financial Benefits and Discounts

City’s Superannuation Contribution

For employees who contribute 5% or more of their PAYG salary component to their super fund, the City will contribute up to 15.25% inclusive of the super guarantee charge.

Salary Packaging

Employees may salary package benefits such as Novated Vehicle Leases and Remote Area Rent in accordance with Australian Tax Office (ATO) legislation and any ATO rulings.

Discounted Microsoft Subscription

Available for eligible Microsoft 365 Home or Personal annual plans.

Corporate Rates for HBF Private Health memberships

HBF provides the City’s employees corporate rates for their Private Health membership plans.

Discounted Leisure Centre Memberships

Gain access to the modern and well-equipped ‘GLC’ with a 25m pool and techno gym, available on a discounted membership rate.

Free Onsite Parking

Free onsite employee parking right next to our new modern offices built in 2018.

 

Leave Entitlements 

Personal/Carer’s Leave

12 paid days of Personal and Carer’s leave is accrued by those employees who have completed 3 full years of service at the City.

Special Personal Leave

This Special Personal leave is made available for eligible employees across 2 days per financial year, deducted from their accrued personal leave as per the City’s EA.

Purchased Leave

Additional leave can be purchased by all employees within a financial year.

Public Holiday Time in Lieu

Eligible employees are entitled to a days’ paid absence in lieu of two public holidays previously observed.

Paid Parental Leave 

8 weeks of Paid Parental Leave for full and part time employees as per the City’s EA.

Long Service Leave

After 7 years of continuous service, all employees can apply for Long Service Leave taken pro-rata.

Emergency Services Leave

The City proudly supports employees volunteering for a recognised emergency management agency and may be paid up to 38 hours per calendar year to respond to emergencies.  

Health and Wellness

The City is committed to providing employees information, motivation, and tools to make healthier and better-informed choices for their overall quality of life through the following initiatives.

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program provides confidential counselling services to employees and immediate families. PeopleSense is the City's current provider. 

Skin Screening, Flu Vaccines and Full Health Assessments

To support employees’ health, Skin Screening, Flu Vaccines and Full Health Assessments are offered to select employees across the year.

‘Quit Smoking’ Program

A wellness program aimed to support impacted employees with their journey to quit smoking.

Wellness Activities

Activities such as Yoga, Pilates and Informative Sessions are offered exclusively and at a discounted rate to City employees throughout the year, which can be directly deducted from their fortnightly pay.

End of Journey Facilities

The City’s modern building is equipped with showers, change rooms and lockers for employees wishing to utilise these facilities.  

 

Sustainability is Key

The City is dedicated to promoting and implementing environmentally sustainable practices and encourages employees to be part of the change.
