Local government ordinary elections are held every two years on the third Saturday in October.
Councillors are elected for four-year terms, with half of the Councillor terms concluding at each biennial election.
2023 City of Busselton Council Elections
The 2023 elections will be held on Saturday 21 October.
The Council has appointed the Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) to run its election by postal vote. The WAEC appoints a Returning Officer.
Counting of ballots will be conducted in the City Administration Building, from approximately 5pm on election night.
This year the Office of Mayor and five Councillor positions are up for election, four Councillor positions for a 4 year term and one for a 2 year term.

- Close of enrolments for electoral rolls – Friday 25 August, 5pm
- Candidate Information Session - Monday 28 August 6pm (Council Chambers, City Administration Building - 2 Southern Drive, Busselton). Registrations not necessary.
- Opening of Candidate nominations – Thursday 31 August
- Close of Candidate nominations – Thursday 7 September, 4pm
- Election Day and close of polls – Saturday 21 October, 6pm
