Community Housing for Seniors

The City of Busselton provides community housing for eligible seniors.

The City has two unit complexes; Winderlup Villas located at 6 Marine Terrace and 21 West Street; and Kweelam Court located at 26 Harris Road in Busselton.

Eligibility

Eligibility for a rental unit is determined based on the following criteria:

  1. Age - Applicants are required to be a minimum age of 55 years.
  2. Income - Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they meet the financial criteria applied to senior housing.
  3. Assets - Applicants must meet the Department of Communities Community Housing Income & Asset Limits Policy by providing evidence of assets and monies held on deposit for example bank accounts including term deposits and superannuation funds.
  4. Resident status - Applicants are required to be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status.

Applying for Community Housing 

Anyone believing they are a candidate for senior community housing should complete an application form.  The applicant will then be assessed for eligibility. If the eligibility criteria is met, an application will be reviewed when accommodation within the City’s community housing portfolio becomes available. Updated details will be required annually to ensure an application is current.  Application forms can be acquired from the City by telephoning the Property Officer on (08) 9781 0381.
