Building Plan Search Request
The City is required to maintain records of all building approvals issued, including copies of building licenses, permits, plans, and supporting documentation.
A property owner, or an authorised agent of the property owner, may request a copy of the building approval(s) or building plan(s) issued for a residential or commercial development.
To request a copy of building plan(s) please complete a Building Plans Search Request and submit via email to city@busselton.wa.gov.au or in person at the City Administration Building, 22 Southern Drive Busselton.
Written authorisation signed by the property owner(s) must accompany a Building Plan Search Request for instances where:
- An authorised person, or agent is acting on behalf of a property owner(s); or
- The requested plans and/or documentation may be released to a nominated person;
Building Administration staff will issue a Request for Payment once a completed application form is received. Once the search fees are receipted, a comprehensive search may take up to 10 business days as some hardcopy records may be stored off-site.
Whilst a thorough search will be undertaken on all requests, the City cannot guarantee that all building approvals will be available. The City also cannot guarantee the quality of some archived approvals, which may have deteriorated and become unreadable due to their age and the media sources used at the time.
Fees
The relevant search fees are provided below and are generally non-refundable.
Building approvals and plans:
- Electronically in the system - $84
- Archived Plans - $125
- Site plan only - $66
Timeframe
We endeavour to complete all building plan requests within 10 working days. Please be aware that we are experiencing a high volume of requests which may result in delays.
