Rules of Engagement
This page aims to improve communication and facilitate constructive conversation between the City of Busselton and its stakeholders and relates to ALL City of Busselton owned social media pages and channels.
While everyone is welcome to participate, there are some guidelines that must be followed if you would like to contribute on our pages.
When interacting, we ask that you:
- contribute positively – constructive feedback is welcome;
- contact us ‘off-line’ for serious matters or for a response;
- exercise common sense, courtesy and decency;
- do not post your personal contact details or the details of others;
- do not post advertising material or solicitations at any time;
- adhere to Facebook’s guidelines.
The City of Busselton reserves the right to remove posts / comments on any of its social media pages at any time without notice. The City will not remove posts simply because they are not liked. However, the City will act quickly to protect the privacy of groups or individuals.
Any comments which identify or refer to individuals negatively, including City of Busselton employees and Elected Members, will be removed. Posts may also be deleted - at the City’s absolute discretion - if they contain:
- any discussion or promotion of behaviour that is unlawful;
- inappropriate, violent, obscene, profane, hateful, derogatory, racist or sexist language, content or links;
- threatening, harassing, bullying, discriminatory language;
- content or links to content that infringe copyright;
- comments that threaten or defame any person or organization;
- information that may compromise the public’s safety or security;
- solicitations, advertisements or endorsements; spam or nuisance posts;
- discussions that relate to Local Government elections and/or candidates;
- multiple successive off-topic posts by a single user or any repetitive posts;
- any other inappropriate comments or content as determined by the City of Busselton.
By ‘liking’ this page you are acknowledging all of the above Guidelines and that you may be blocked from this page if the City decides you’re in breach of these rules.
