LOCAL PLANNING SCHEME No. 21 – AMENDMENT No. 61

It is hereby notified for public information, in accordance with section 87 of the Planning and Development Act 2005 that the Minister for Planning approved the City of Busselton Local Planning Scheme No. 21 Amendment No. 61 on 4 May 2026 for the purpose of aligning the scheme with the land use categories and permissibility for short-term rental accommodation in accordance with the deemed provisions of the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015. Key changes of the amendment are as follows:
Deletion of the following land use terms:
- Bed and breakfast
- Chalet
- Guesthouse
- Holiday Home (Multiple/Grouped Dwelling)
- Holiday Home (Single House)
- Motel
- Rural Holiday Resort
- Rural Tourist Accommodation
- Tourist Accommodation.
Introduction of the following new land uses:
- Tourist and Visitor Accommodation;
- Hosted Short-Term Rental Accommodation;
- Unhosted short-term rental accommodation.
Amendments to Table 1 ‘Zoning Table’ to designate ‘Unhosted Short-Term Rental Accommodation’ as an ‘X’ use in all zones. A new Additional Use (A87) applies to land delineated on the scheme maps and designates ‘Unhosted Short-Term Rental Accommodation’ as an ‘A’ use within all areas that A87 applies.
A notice to this effect was published in the Government Gazette on 12 May 2026.
