Update on Draft Local Planning Scheme No. 22 (LPS22)

Published on Friday, 16 May 2025 at 11:19:15 AM

Following direction from the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) and decision of Council in April 2023, the City has been finalising a new Draft Local Planning Scheme No.22 (LPS22) to replace the existing Local Planning Scheme No. 21 (LPS21).

Local planning schemes are the rule books that guide development in a local government area. To best address the challenges of the future, the City requires a modern and flexible planning framework able to respond to the evolving needs and growth of the community.

The first draft version of Draft LPS22 was presented to Council in October and December 2024 for consent to advertise. As an outcome of the December meeting, the City has undertaken further workshops with Elected Members.

Draft LPS22 will be presented to the Council seeking consent to advertise at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday 28 May 2025.
