Important changes to Waste Facilities 2025/2026

Published on Tuesday, 13 May 2025 at 2:41:24 PM

The Busselton Waste Transfer and Recycling Centre and Dunsborough Waste Facility will be implementing important changes to operating hours and requirements to dispose of certain household items.

The City has recently identified a need to allocate more staff time to site preparation, critical safety checks and other safety procedures throughout both sites before and after opening hours, as part of daily facility operations. To enable staff to conduct the necessary checks and carry out procedures, we have had to make some adjustments to the hours we are open to the community. We have been monitoring the number of visitors to each site and have identified that the option of closing half an hour early will have the least impact on the community using the facilities.

Both facilities will be fully operational and open to the public for 8 hours per day, 7 days a week

(except the last Tuesday of every month, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Good Friday).

Adjustment to operating hours

From Tuesday, 1 July 2025 the new operating hours will be 7.30am to 3.30pm, 7 days a week.
Closed Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Good Friday.

Monthly half-day closure

From Tuesday, 1 July 2025 closed at 12.00 noon on the last Tuesday of every month to allow for staff meetings, training and additional site maintenance.
