Paint the Cape REaD

Our event will be held during the 2nd week of the October School Holidays and will be a community celebration of the reading mascot Barney the Barn Owl's Birthday. It will be a free community event for families with young children held at Naturaliste Community Centre Dunsborough.

The event is a collaboration between different organisations including Busselton/Dunsborough Library, the People Place, Playgroup WA and Anglicare, Naturaliste Community Centre, and many more. It will be a picnic in the park style event and there will be a number of interactive stalls with activities for young children. There will also be a Storytime Session facilitated by the library.

This event is part of Paint the Town REaD which is a community led program that supports parents to provide early literacy experiences for their children, develop skills and confidence in this area and promote attachment and brain development. It aims to encourage the whole community to talk, read, sing, rhyme, draw and play with children every day from birth, so that they will be ready for reading and writing for life.

The event will be an opportunity for families to participate in their local community, build connections, participate in enriching early literacy experiences and have improved wellbeing.
