Ornella’s live performances have been described as haunting and “so honest that a magnetic humility flows through every note played.” Her debut single 'Golden Boy,' released in 2019, was a spring anthem for the dreamers of the world and kicked off her music career.
A year later flirty love song ‘Cher & Josh’ was released and placed in the semi-finals of the 2020 International Song writing Competition (ISC). This means that from a pool of 26,000 entries she placed in the top 9% worldwide! "Trading the dreamy, nocturnal hues of her previous work with sunburnt folk tones, the song softly washes in with an acoustic-driven melody and Ornella’s velvety vocals.” (Happy Mag, 2020).
Known for her sweet, laid-back vocal approach Ornella likes to make every song her own when playing covers. Female performers such as Missy Higgins, Dua Lipa and Vera Blue greatly inspire Ornella with some listeners comparing her to a young Taylor Swift. She loves an 80s tune and always enjoys putting an acoustic spin on her favourite classics including Blondie, Fleetwood Mac and Bon Jovi.
Despite the hardships 2020 presented for musicians, Ornella had the opportunity to perform at Optus Stadium during the AFL season. Playing in front of 20,000 people was her biggest crowd yet and showed the singer’s ability to own the stage no matter how big the gig!
Ornella’s latest folk single ‘Destiny’ is raw and honest. It tells the tale of a lonesome traveller who fears living a life without purpose. The vocal track was recorded in one take and the music video detailing her 2021 travels to the Coral Coast WA was created completely by Ornella. With many songs ready to be recorded, an EP is in the works for 2022.
