Busselton Foreshore East – Reopening

The City of Busselton has completed construction of the $1.5m revitalisation at Busselton Foreshore East public open space marking a major milestone for the transformational development in Busselton’s unique foreshore that commenced in October last year.

Located on Geographe Bay Rd between Milne and Georgette Street’s on the eastern corridor of the foreshore, includes new grassed space, landscaping, seating, improved pathways with new lighting.

In addition, there are new barbeque facilities incorporating dedicated wheel chair access, food truck bay and a fully functional commercial kitchen kiosk.

City of Busselton Mayor Grant Henley said “The works between east of the Busselton Jetty and Marine Rescue Busselton have significantly enhanced recreational amenities in east Busselton and Geographe.”

“The City had used business and community feedback to develop a design that creates connection from the foreshore with surrounding shops and cafes.” “Feedback received emphasised the importance of open green space and improved pedestrian access to the vicinity.”

“It was identified that a dedicated carpark was required to protect our valuable Norfolk pine trees that were showing signs of stress from vehicles parking under the trees and compacting the surrounding grounds of the pines.”

“This will further enhance our already bustling Busselton foreshore with outstanding new public and community space.” Mayor Henley said.

The wider public open space is designed to support and encourage community events and family gatherings through the inclusion of seating, lighting and public amenities.

Objectives outlined in this statement are aligned with Key Goal Area 3 in the City of Busselton’s Strategic Community Plan (Review 2019): Environment that is values, conserved and enjoyed and Key Goal Area 2 Places and Spaces that are vibrant, attractive and affordable.
