City of Busselton Annual Sports Awards celebrate local sporting excellence

Held on Monday evening, 27 October 2025, the City’s Annual Sports Awards recognised and celebrated outstanding achievements and contributions across the local sporting community. 

Congratulations to this year’s nominees and our incredible award recipients: 

  • Club Governance Award – Vasse Soccer Club
  • Club of the Year – Busselton Water Polo Club
  • Coach of the Year – Jack Hall, Geographe Bay Soccer Club
  • Event of the Year – South West Jiu Jitsu Cup run by Flow State Jiu Jitsu Club
  • Inclusion Event of the Year – Jillaroos and All Abilities Soccer, Vasse Soccer Club
  • Official of the Year – Braden Surrell, AFL
  • Volunteer of the Year – Val Best
  • Mayors Lifetime Achievement Awards:
    • Allan Miller - Cricket
    • John and Terry Compton - Sailing
  • Para Athlete of the Year – Brad Scott, Golf
  • Sports Person of the Year – Nerida Stokes, BMX
  • Team of the Year – Flow State Jiu Jitsu Club

 Guest Speaker Tash Rigby, Football West Manager of Advocacy and Female Football – Football West, inspired attendees with her journey, challenges and determination to succeed in her sport. Tash providing an insight into her elite sport philosophy and the need for life balance. 

Mayor Phill Cronin said: “The evening was a wonderful celebration of community spirit and sporting excellence.” 

“The event was well attended, with a diverse range of community sports represented. These awards are a fantastic way to close out the year and acknowledge the dedication and hard work of so many, from coaches and mentors to committee members, individual athletes and teams.” 

“Congratulations to all nominees and winners. Your commitment and achievements are truly inspiring. Our City’s sporting community stands out because of the passion and effort invested in every training session, every game, and every day. I’m already looking forward to next year where it is hoped the awards can be held at Saltwater Busselton. For those who didn’t nominate this time, make sure you get involved in 2026! Here’s to more success, teamwork and memorable moments ahead.”
