At its WA Aquatic and Recreation Awards, the Leisure Institute of Western Australia recently awarded the City’s Geographe Leisure Centre (GLC) with ‘Aquatic Facility Safety Award - Highly Commended’.
The award recognises a demonstrated commitment to improving aquatic health and safety outcomes and creating an outstanding safety culture.
This recognition reflects years of ongoing effort to strengthen safety practices, improve accessibility, enhance emergency preparedness and regular staff training. It also highlights the GLC team’s commitment to continuous improvement, including learning from independent assessments and aligning practices with industry best practice.
From reviewing procedures and identifying opportunities for improvement to supporting colleagues and putting aquatic safety into practice every day, the collective efforts of staff across all areas of the centre have helped create a safer and more welcoming environment for the community.
Congratulations and thank you to the entire Geographe Leisure Centre team for this well-deserved recognition. Your dedication demonstrates how a strong safety culture is built over time through teamwork, vigilance and a commitment to improve safety.
