The City of Busselton has officially reopened Holgate Reserve following the completion of a significant revitalisation project designed to create a more inclusive, accessible and welcoming community space.
The upgrade project, valued at just under $400,000, has delivered a range of new and improved facilities including an all-access playground, all-access BBQ and picnic facilities, new shade sails, revitalised green spaces and resurfacing of the multipurpose courts.
City of Busselton Mayor Phill Cronin said the revitalised reserve would provide lasting benefits for the local community.
“Holgate Reserve is a much-loved community space, and these upgrades ensure it is more inclusive, welcoming and functional for people of all ages and abilities.”
“The project has transformed the reserve into an even better place for connection, recreation and relaxation and I am confident it will be enjoyed by the community for many years to come.”
“Importantly, community feedback played a key role in shaping the project and the priorities for the space, ensuring the upgrades reflected the needs of those who use this space.”
The City acknowledged the support of the Western Australian Government, which contributed $60,000 towards the all-access playground through a 2025 Election Commitment.
Mayor Cronin thanked all those who contributed to delivering the project, including the City’s Infrastructure and Environment team, for their work in completing the upgrades to a high standard. The official reopening concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community photo opportunity at the new all-access playground.
