Sod turning celebrates commencement of the Dunsborough Lakes Sports Pavilion

Published on Thursday, 15 October 2026 at 12:04:40 PM

The City of Busselton today celebrated a major milestone for community sport in Dunsborough, turning the sod for the new multi-sport pavilion at the Dunsborough Lakes Sporting Precinct.

This marks the start of construction on the major component of the precinct and celebrates the progress already made in delivering modern, multi-use facilities for Dunsborough’s growing community.

Located at 210 Dunsborough Lakes Drive, the precinct already includes modern multi-use soccer and cricket fields, sports lighting, four multi-use netball and basketball courts, and car parking. The new pavilion will complement these facilities and create a more complete sporting hub for clubs, participants and the wider community.

Designed in consultation with local sporting groups, the pavilion will support a range of sports and provides an important, shared home for local clubs and their members.

Mayor Phill Cronin said “The precinct’s fields, courts and pavilion will encourage participation in sport and recreation, strengthen connections between local clubs and provide welcoming facilities that can serve the community as Dunsborough continues to grow.”

The City acknowledges the collaboration of local sporting clubs and the community throughout the planning phase for this project, and thanks the State Government, through the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund, and the Australian Government for their contributions to the overall development of the precinct alongside the City’s investment.
