The City of Busselton has been named a finalist in two categories at the prestigious 2025 WA Tourism Awards for Business Excellence with the winners being announced on 8 November.
- Local Government Award for Tourism – City of Busselton - We’re proud to be the only regional finalist in this category! This award recognises excellence in tourism planning, the provision of tourism facilities and services, marketing, event development, and overall contribution to the tourism industry.
- Cultural Tourism Award –Old Courthouse Complex - This category recognises tourism businesses that foster a greater understanding and appreciation of authentic culture, history, heritage, and the arts. Our submission highlighted the installation of two new heritage exhibitions, which contributed to the Judges’ Award bestowed upon the City of Busselton at the 2024 WA Heritage Awards.
These awards recognise excellence in tourism planning, the provision of tourism facilities and services, marketing, event development and management, and the overall contribution made both locally and to the wider tourism industry. The Cultural Tourism Award in particular recognises tourism businesses that foster a greater understanding and appreciation of authentic culture, history, heritage and/or the arts.
Mayor Phill Cronin said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received this recognition, especially when being measured against large metropolitan local governments – and we are in great company with so many other fantastic organisations operating within the City of Busselton also being recognised across a number of categories.”
“The City is continuing to invest in infrastructure and events to enhance experiences, encourage repeat visitation and ensure we continue to be an attractive destination for interstate and international visitors. The City has successfully worked to attract and support events during the shoulder and off-peak season to smooth out seasonality of the tourism industry, stimulate the economy during the cooler months and elevate the cultural landscape. We are proud to be the Events Capital of WA” he said.
The City demonstrates a long-standing commitment to sustainable tourism growth through strategic vision, collaborative partnerships, and targeted investment. By working closely with event organisers, tourism bodies, community groups, and local businesses, the City attracts major events through financial support and provision of high-quality venues, boosting regional visibility and driving economic activity.
