Notice of a proposal to close permanently and to rename parts of Northerly Street, Vasse

Please note this notice is an extension to a previous notice advertised during December 2025. Added to this notice is a proposal to rename the south-western portion of Northerly Street.
The City invites submissions to a proposal to permanently close parts of Northerly Street, Vasse, pursuant to the Land Administration Act 1997 (the Act). Referring to the attached map, the parts of Northerly Street proposed to be permanently closed lie between Harlequin Boulevard and Yebble Drive.
The reason for the proposed closure is to facilitate planning and development of the area as guided by the Vasse Structure Plan Amendment No. 1, endorsed by the Western Australian Planning Commission on 26 September 2025. Attached to this notice is a set of extracts from the Vasse Structure Plan, including a plan showing possible future development south of Northerly Street, explanatory notes about the realignment of Northerly Street and a recommended road hierarchy for the broader Vasse development. Should the road closures proceed in accordance with the Act, it is proposed:
- the land areas are amalgamated with adjoining property or revested as recreation reserve; and
- the south-western portion of Northerly Street is renamed to “Armour Street”, “Timothee Street” or other suitable name based on suggestions from the community.
The reason for the proposal to rename the south-western part of Northerly Street (should the road closure proceed) is to avoid a split of a road name across separate road segments.
The City is seeking written submissions to the proposal and for road name suggestions by Wednesday, 18 February 2026. Submissions may be delivered by:

- handed to the Customer Service Desk, City Administration Office, Southern Drive, Busselton.
