Temporary Closure - Busselton Jetty’s Underwater Observatory
Published on Tuesday, 22 July 2025 at 3:43:47 PM
Busselton Jetty’s iconic Underwater Observatory (UWO) will temporarily close from Monday, 28 July to Friday, 5 September 2025 to undergo a major accessibility-focused upgrade, including the installation of a brand-new lift system.
This significant infrastructure investment is part of the Jetty’s long-term commitment to inclusivity, continuous improvement, and universal access. After more than two decades of service, the current lift will be replaced to ensure all visitors—regardless of mobility—can safely access the Observatory’s immersive seafloor experience.
The lift installation is expected to take up to six weeks, but Busselton Jetty will monitor progress closely and reopen the UWO earlier if possible.
UWO bookings have been temporarily paused to allow the project to proceed smoothly, though guests booking the Return Train during this time can register their interest in UWO should an early reopening occur.
