Road reconstruction - Payne Road
Published on Tuesday, 9 September 2025 at 10:39:55 AM
The City of Busselton will be undertaking road reconstruction works on Payne Road. These works involve full road reconstruction and widening, including the installation of sealed shoulders and upgraded drainage where required. This renewal project will improve road safety and provide a stronger and more reliable road surface for all users. This project forms part of the state funded Regional Road Group program and continues from last year’s works. The decision to proceed has been based on detailed road condition assessments and community consultation undertaken in 2024.
Following the recent public submission period, which closed on 26 September 2025, the temporary road closure required to complete these works will now proceed as advertised.
The works are scheduled to commence in mid-October 2025, with completion anticipated within 2–3 months, subject to weather conditions. Working hours will generally be from 7.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. During construction, Payne Road will be closed to traffic during working hours, with local detours in place. The road will remain open during evenings and weekends.
Local access to properties along Payne Road will be maintained at all times throughout the works. Residents, visitors and service vehicles will be able to approach the traffic controllers, advise who they are and the property they are accessing, and will then be permitted through when safe to do so. While access will be maintained, some minor delays may occur due to construction activities and traffic management.
Every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.
