Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Flight Training Operations taking place in Busselton

The City is welcoming the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) who will be conducting training activities from the Busselton Margaret River Airport from Monday 19 February to Friday 1 March 2024.

Up to six RAAF PC-21 aircraft will be conducting flight training operations, including a mix of general flying and formation flying within 50NM of Busselton Margaret River Airport.

General Flying training includes circuit training, aerobatics and low flying.

Formation Flying training teaches trainee pilots the basics of formation station maintenance, re-joins and combat manoeuvring.

Most of the flight training operations will be conducted above 5000 feet and away from built up areas to minimise any impact on the local community.

Flying training away from RAAF Base Pearce allows pilot trainees to be exposed to an unfamiliar aerodrome and outside of controlled airspace procedures.

Approximately 40 Australian Defence Force and support personnel will be staying in Busselton. We hope you have opportunity to make them feel welcome during their short stay.
