Councillor Sue Riccelli has resigned from her role as Councillor with the City of Busselton, effective 14 February 2024.

First elected to Council in 2019, Cr Riccelli has dedicated much of her time and energy to serving as a valuable member on Council. Cr Riccelli attended some 82 Ordinary and Special Council meetings, served on ten different committees and was Chair for the Lower Vasse River Advisory Group during her time.

In announcing her resignation, Cr Riccelli said “I wish to sincerely thank the community for the opportunity to represent them and for their support over the last four and a half years.”

Mayor Phill Cronin said it was bittersweet to hear of Cr Riccelli’s resignation. “While we lose a dedicated, hardworking Councillor, the community gains a passionate professional.”

“I am sure Cr Riccelli has a bright future ahead of her and on behalf of Council, wish her all the best.”

Under reforms to the Local Government Act 1995, the City’s Chief Executive Officer will offer this vacant position on Council to the next unelected candidate.

Objectives outlined in this statement are aligned with the City of Busselton’s Strategic Community Plan (2021 - 2031) Key Themes Leadership: A Council that connects with the community and is accountable in its decision making.
